This is a horrible story, and all I can say is Karma will get this guy. My mother died almost a year ago. My father just returned from Oregon on Sunday where he spends the summers to get out of this god awful heat. He arrived home Sunday night, so Monday he took his car to the car wash to have it cleaned after traveling on the road from Oregon. He had put his wedding ring in a small compartment in the car. that closed. When he got home he checked and sure enough his ring was gone. He went back to the car wash and told them what happened. Dad knew who the guy was, he as the only one cleaning the inside, but he had left for the day. He told them he would be back in the morning, next day he goes back and of course the guy denies it. Tad to the car wash they had a thief and a liar working for them. He told the guy he would pay him for it. Of course he had to continue denying it. Dad called the police and filed a report. He also called Danny's corporate office which happens to be located here in Phoenix as it is a local company, and let them know. Of course the ring is gone, a pawn shop or a gold buyer. Makes me sick. Dad is handling it well. I know he is hurting inside. The car wash is Danny's on Tatum and just south of Shay. Don't think I will be going there, I would not recommend it either. This is the missing ring, on his hand.

Emotionally dad and I are not very good for each other, the second I walked into your house yesterday morning dad started crying and then so did I. He misses you so much and so do I. He did real good for the rest of the day. We all came here for dinner because dad asked if we could, as he decided it would be too much work for him, so they all came. It was good. I hope next year something different happens, because I know Todd won't be coming next year, as he has a family and he needs to start his own traditions. Well I made it through my first birthday without you. It was hard buy honestly I tried not to think about you so I wouldn't cry. We went to the new sports bar they opened at Desert Ridge. You needed a new love seat, so I went with dad to help him find one today. He really had no idea how expensive things had become, were were thinking of having a gray leather one made because it would have matched your purple couch, until the price came out and dad said there was no way he was paying that much for a couch. We found a nice leather beige colored one that will look nice in there and be comfortable for dad. Your headstone looks real nice.

since the first day of school we have already had fall break and are now into the third week of the second nine weeks. Funny how you look at a year when you are a teacher. Anyway over fall break I was the only one home during the day. Very strange Cayden had school, for the first time, I woud always keep him home with me on breaks since it was daycare, this time he was at school and I was at home. I loved being able to take him to school each day and be there like the other parents to pick him up after school. While I was home, I got out my airbrush and copic markers and created this bag and pencil or makeup holder. I don't carry makeup around with me but I have all kinds of drawing utensils in my purse I will use this bag to keep them all in.

15 years

It has been fifteen years since Canyon was born, hard to believe but even harder not to forget, we spent two weeks wondering if he would make it and if he would get to come home. It is very hard to have a baby and not be able to take him home. I remember like it was yesterday the nurse saying there was something wrong with baby Schuster, he was not breathing right, and for the next two weeks he stayed in intensive care while they tried to fight the spinal meningitis. Every day we went to the hospital at all hours to sit with him. To this day, I have to thank that nurse who was so well away of her job to notice that something was wrong with my son immediately and do something about it, before it was to late. I remember when he could first be taken out of his little incubator and be held my husband and I fought over who would get to be first, and for two weeks all we could do was look and talk to him. When they sent him home, he came with a plug in his head, so he could have injections three times a day. What a way to start a life. I am sure all the disabilities we see in him now stem from this hard start in life. But when you do not have a choice you do what you need to save a life and worry about the consequences later.

I must confess ever since I bought that machine I have been rather afraid of it. The few times I used it I could not get a screen to burn, so I put it away in my Harry Potter room and have been tripping over it for the past year every time I go in and out of there. My daughter has been giving me grief about not using it, so I finally decided to get it out and see if it even worked any more. Now I am addicted. I have figured out the screen process, not hard just follow the directions, and have been using it non stop. It takes up a major part of the kitchen oh well, who needs dinner anyway.

Here is the third installment of Toy Story Three. When we won our four free tickets, I was told we were the grand prize winner and would receive free merchandise. I figured it would be some cheesy toys. The box arrived and it was full of some very expensive toys. I was surprised. I mean we never win anything. There were two Potato heads, one dressed as Buzz Lighyear and the other one dressed as Woody. There was a Buzz Lighyear Operation Game, and the all time favorite to shoot us with is some sort of gun that shoots discs. Cayden was thrilled to get a box in the mail, it came while he was swimming.

I do not understand what is wrong with people in this town, I cannot listen to the news anymore, every day there is another story of a child in critical condition because they fell in the pool. Don't people watch their children. I keep hearing on the news they were in the water at least 20 minutes, how as a parent can you not know where you child is every second. If you can't watch your child then don't have a pool, better yet don' have children.

When Cayden was born we did not have a fence around our pool,we had a nice yard and I did not want to ruin it with a fence,mobile,not only did I feel a fence with a self closing and locking gate was not enough, we put a self sliding back door in, and I am thinking we need to fence the top so he does not climb over. I know where he is every minute. Parents who let this happen should not be parents. Accidents happen but these are our children and we need to take care of them.

I took a class her in town offered by the makers of Copic Markers to learn to use them, the class was for store owners, and then opened up to others if there was space left, I was an other, and I was allowed in. The person here in the picture is Maryanne, she used to be an art teacher, and I wish she would have run the whole class as I learned more from her one demo. then the other teacher all day.

Water bottle wreath tutorial

The bottom of these water bottles remind me of flowers, so I cut the bottom off of several, using first a kitchen knife, and then scissors to trim the edges.

Once all the pieces were cut out, I painted the inside and the outside, it took a few layers of paint to get a good coating.

Using a strafoam wreath from the craft store, and a glue gun, I glued down each piece, The heat from the glue melted some of the plastic to give it a unique feel.

Meeting

We met with the advocate for Canyon to help us navigate the high school system to get him on the right track so he can be successful in school. What a knowledgeable person she is. She read his evaluation and had a lot of suggestions for us, and is going to recommend some more testing for him, at the schools expense. Oh boy wait until we show up at the school with her. We cannot move forward until we get a copy of his current IEP, after spring break is over. The one thing that really stuck out in my mind that there is a reason Canyon does what he does, he may not be able to verbalize it to us. Like not using soap, because he is so tactile and everything bothers him, it could be the fact that he cannot stand the feel of soap on him. It really helped having a stranger read the situation and give us some possible suggestions, and know that there is someone else out there to help us with this battle.

This week is my Spring Break, or I thought it was. I have spent most of the time on the phone learning about the Special Education Process. We had my sons' IEP meeting at school on Tuesday, Doug and I had a list of all the things we wanted to cover because of all the problems my son is having in school. When we left there we were shaking our heads as to what happened. We were kind of steam rolled over. They went over his goals, which I could give a ____ about. I am concerned about his accommodations, which I found out there were not following from his IEP that he brought with him from the junior high. I have been on the phone with the Arizona Center for Disabilities, they gave me a ton of things I can be doing, and gave me the names of a rep. in our area who can help us wade through this mess to get the help my son needs to get through high school successfully. Why does it have to be like this. Why cant teachers who have special needs students in there classes have a little bit of humanism in them to make them feel like the rest. Being a teacher, I certainly don't single out the special needs students, and I give all students reminder about assignments and homework, I don't think to many freshmen in high school are responsible disabilities or not, and could always use some reminders. What is so hard about that, as they years progress the students will mature and hopefully become more responsible. Any way back on track, the next step is to request a meeting with the Director of Special Education, they have 15 days to respond to our request if they do not then we file a complaint with the department of education. Why is having an education for my son so complicated?

Stampotique Challenge # 2

This challenge was very hard, first because I have never made cards before except for the one I did for challenge 1, all my supplies are kept in the Harry Potter room(the room under the stairs.) and anywhere else I can stash stuff. By the time I have everything rounded up it is usually time for dinner or homework or one of another million things that need to be done. Well guess what besides dinner nothing else got done. Laundry still not put away. Tomorrow, and finally this was a hard challenge because of the color scheme. These are very mellow colors for me. I am quite embarrassed to say I have quite a few Stampotique Original stamps, I dug them all out of where they were stashed about the house to see what I would use, and I did not realize I had as many as I did. I guess it is a good thing there store is no longer on my way home from work, having to order on line does slow you down a bit.

Last saturday Molly and I took a class from Tonia, we made the pencil necklace, I had to take the photo from her blog, as I could not get a decent picture of the necklace, the plexiglass made it foggy. A new medium I have not tried,and I like it, not exactly like fabric, but it can be cut, died, drilled, stenciled, and scratched if you are not careful.

Have a lot to post, had a wonderful birthday party for my parents will add the pictures as I move to the other computer that has the pictures. Mom turned 75 on Monday, so I had a birthday party for her as well as my dad as he turned 75 this summer. They live in Oregon for the summer so it was rather hard to have a party, and we also celebrated their 50the wedding anniversay which will be this summer, while they are in Oregon. It was a lot of fun, all of my moms sisters were here, the one who lives here in Phoenix did a great job of doing the food. My dads one surviving brother and his wife(my aunt) came, and then friends of mom and dads. They really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed giving them a few minutes of joy in their lives, I know my dad works really hard at taking care of my mom. Talk about unconditional love my father certainly has it for my mother, ever since her heart attack he takes care of everything. Mostly my mom, since she has no short term memory and no ambition any more, she is just not the same person she used to be. I am sorry that my youngest son will not have the memories of a grandmother that my other two do. She was a really great grandmother, and I miss her terribly.

This is the first time my son has had anything on but Khaki shorts. He had to dress up for his first choir concert. I wish I could get this picture into another program besides Picasa so I could editit. It is a good picture. He had a total melt down getting ready, he last comment was I have OCD and these pants are driving me crazy. After the fact he was a complete gentleman. Choir has been a good experience for him.

Can I tell you how fun, and education it has been in my classroom these past three weeks, I have had Jill Penney in here working with my students. It started out just as a presentation of her work, how she got started, education etc. From there the students carved stamps from drawings they did, after seeing her stamps that are produced by http://www.stampotique.com/stamp/New-Images.html the kids were very inspired. After she left I received an e-mail from her that the students had been contacting her and would like her to come back and do dolls. Oh my goodness, she brought in some of her dolls, and the kids got to work. It has been a busy busy time her in the class, time has flown by and the kids have learned a great deal. They really have learned a lot from her, she has the patience of a saint, very generous with her time, and she has been very inspirational for the kids, some of my students who I have a hard time getting anything out of have actually been sewing and participating. Seeing her work up close, and being able to actually look at Daniels sketch books and hear the stories behind them, and there are definitely stories to go with each of her dolls, is really a privileged event. She did a wonderful job, and I think she is now considering teaching at Artunraveled next year. Cool Huh?

I really hate it when I wake up in the night and cannot go back to sleep, because I know the next day I am going to be tired, and there are so many things I want to get done in a day, and I am not a person who can function on a few hours sleep. Caitlin came home late Thursday night after finishing her last final. She thinks she did well, earning all A's and B's. I am very proud of her, school is not easy. Unfortunately she was in a car accident yesterday, she rear ended a brand new BMW. At least she goes for the expensive cars. The lady only has had the car six weeks, not really sure of the details, but of course it was Caitlin's fault, it scares you when you get a call from your daughter crying that she has just been in a car accident, as long as she is o.k. that is the main thing. That is why we have insurance. Her car is still drivable, we will take it Monday to see about getting it fixed. Poor thing what a way to start your winter vacation.

This is a custom order that Jill Penney did of our dog. I took her a couple of pictures of her, and she made her into a monster, well actually she already is a monster, but this stuffed version is so well done. I love the toe nails that she sports. I was going to send it to my daughter in college to give her something to remind her of her dog but I decided not as I like it myself way to much. (Sorry Honey)

Shaq

You never can tell who you may run into. My daughter and I were going to Fashion Square today, and look who we passed Shaq O"O'Neil. He certainly is a big man. Caitlin who always has her cell phone in hand snapped a picture. This is a purse I ordered from Etsy, too cute, and some other things I have been working on.

Love this little purse, I am trying to put it on etsy, yet the file is to big so I am going to have to figure out how to shrink it to down load it.

Spend the weekend in Flagstaff with my daughter as it was parents weekend, came home Sunday just in time to do grocery shopping and fix dinner. Today the little one and I ripped the carpet up off of the stairs. Tomorrow we will clean them, and maybe paint them. I really would like to cover them in wood like the floor, not sure I know how to do that.

Two Weeks

I was on a short roll writing every Sunday, and then my husband went fishing for four days last weekend, and left me with the two ADHD boys. What a weekend we had, by the end of the weekend I was ready to take their drugs instead of them. But we did make it, and I did get a chance to do some sewing and crafting, without a husband at home you can make a much bigger mess, and not have to worry about cleaning it up. This weekend my daughter came home from college. I love her dearly, and this little guys misses her terribly, but it was time for her to go back. It is just not the same when she comes to visit as it is when she lives here. I think that is why I was so depressed and cried so much when she was leaving for the first time, as I new it would never again be the same. It is now like she is a guest when she comes home, and we don't really get the best of her. She is tired, wants to run around and spend our money, which we did, socks, pants. power bars, sports drinks and UGGS because it is cold where she is at. We can't afford for her to come home to often. I pray for her to have a safe trip home, as it is a dangerous drive.

Sewing

I have been rather busy this week sewing after work, as much as I can, sometimes it is just total therapy for me. Right now my embroidery machine is busily sewing in the background as I type. I am still so amazed by that machine. I still have a lot to learn and get really frustrated with it sometimes but I absolutely love it. I just wish I had more time to play. I have been at Home Depot looking at scroll saws, think I will go to Harbor Freight and see if they are cheaper there. That will be my next purchase. I have a ton of things I would like to be cutting out and my jig saw is just to rough.

One Week Down

We made it through the week barely with only the boys and myself. Day one Cayden was very sick so Doug had to turn around and come home from work, after he drove an hour to get there. Sure could have used my daughter to have kept on eye on him, of course she is now on her own adventure, the next day I was very sick yet went to work, and then the Doctor. Could have used Caitlin again just to help. How dependent I had become on her. Well we made it and she is having her chance to grow. I did manage to do some sewing this weekend, I think that is part of the reason I was sick, no create outlet for a couple of weeks. I made hair ties to take to First Friday and I finished the blocks I had started for Caydens room several months ago. I made a few more Hello Kitty bracelets for Etsy and I will take them with me to First Friday. This will be the first time I will be doing that event without Caitlin as well. She is a help and setting up and taking down and having someone to hang out with during the event.

Turmoil Means Change

If that is what they say that turmoil creates change, not sure who the they is, then this household is about to experince many changes. We just had our first one and in my case a very major one. Caitlin left for NAU on Friday. Doug drove her up on Friday, moved her in and set up all her electronics. The boys and and droe up after we all got home from school. By the time we got there she was goin to the NAU ASU soccer game, so I did not see her until the next day. (Glad that she is socializing) We went to the bookstore picked up her books, brought her breakfast, walked the campus a little, which is a pepsi only campus, going to be a problem for mom who is a coke only person. Just have to bring my own. Then Doug took the boys and came home. I never saw Canyon cry so hard, as mean as he has been to his sister, her admitted that he would miss her, as she has always watched his back. Cayden was not sure exactlly what was going on, he just did not understand that sissy was not coming home. After they left her and I went out to the Mall. I bought her a new pair of Havianna flip flops as the old navy ones she was wearing just are not as nice as these. Then we went to Old Navy where they were having an an awesome sale. All jeans were 12.00. One day only so I bought five pairs as I want to make some skirts out of them. ( will post pictures of those some day) Caitlin picked out some shirts shorts and sports bras. Then we went to Micaels and picked up some cork board for her wall and some tape as her walls in her dorm room are cement. Then it was time for the inevitable, for me to leave her and come home. I cried all the way home, a 2 hour drive. This is a very hard transition for me. Her and I have such an amazing friendship, I know it will only grow, but in the meantime she is not down the hall, and she is not at the table, and she is not bringing her funny humor into this family on a daily basis which is so what we need and what I miss. At the grocery store last night, there were so many things I did not put in the cart, that I usually buy for her, energy bars, power drinks etc. Rather sad.

California

For a person who does not like to travel (me) I certainly have been doing a lot of it this summer. We left for San Diego Friday, and came back today. I barely had the time to get my bags unpacked and washed and repacked as well as everyone else. We spent one day at Lego land, quite a place not really for adults but my two Lego fiend boys had a great time, the little one only wanted to ride while Canyon only wanted to build Lego's. Which was fine, as they had plenty of stops to do that. Caitlin on the other hand was a real champ as she went on a lot of the rides with the little guy. As the day there was not real exciting for her, however she did manage to get shopping in as we went to the outlet malls. We spent one day on the beach, and we all got sunburned. You would think living in Phoenix we would be more careful, but when it is overcast and you don't feel the intense heat you don;t think of getting sunburned. Oregon

I am leaving on Thursday to go to Salem and stay with my parents for four days. I will be taking two classes from Lisa Kaus .http://LisaKaus.com. This is going to be so much fun, I am excited. I am going to have a hard time leaving the Cayden, as he is pretty attached to me right now, as we have been home together for the past 6 weeks, while school has been out. Canyon's birthday falls on the Sunday that I return, his big 13. So we will celebrate it on that Monday. I believe he is going indoor rock climbing with his dad and a friend. For those of you who have never done that, that is such a fun thing to do. It is great exercise, and you feel good when you are done. I finished my picture that I painted with DJ Pettit http://DLPettit.com when she was here at the Paper Studio. Will post later, I am looking forward to taking another class with her at Artunraveled, in August.
